4 Things I've learned as a content creator of ten years. How to stay fluent, current and be okay with disappointments.

True insight often arrives as disruption, not confirmation.

Firstly I want to start with the definition of "I've learned" (present perfect) describes knowledge gained that is still relevant or connected to the present, often used for life lessons or ongoing situations. It differs from "I learned" (simple past), which refers to a specific, finished action in the past. It is commonly used for sharing insights.

Insights are current but they can also be in the past like a certain pattern of human behaviour that we all agree on. For example “when humans get scared they either fight or flight.”

With- I’ve learned, I allude to the fact that I am still learning, have learned recently and found out curiously exploring. I’ve learned does not mean the statement is permanent as it can change, or that the insight is set in stone. These realisations are fluent and current but not necessarily permanent. And always in the context of current social landscape.

The feeling of not knowing all and not being expert in everything, is a valid feeling to have when it comes to human behaviour and social currency. Strategy is only based on the principles of behavioural patterns (and algorithms) so it has to be able to be fluent and case specific.

Capture Everything- Create a content bank. This way you will find a tone and a voice for your brand. Once you start seeing the things you pay attention to, that you are attracted to, it becomes easier to learn learn strategy and discipline in your craft. You are able to see the bigger picture and build a story around your brand or your clients brand.

Stay Inspired- Write down your ideas. Writing notes is important to keep the mind body connection flowing. Going through your in the moment thoughts and ideas is also a fun way to look back and get inspired.

Try New Things- Don’t be afraid to experiment. Don’t let the algorithm be your enemy. Social Media moves fast. Event though you don’t always have to have your finger on the pulse all the time it is good to be flexible and fluent. Being able to move on from disappointments is key and not to get stuck in your head if you feel like you have ‘failed’. Only you see your failures, others won’t.

Dealing With Rejection- will happen. Being online comes with lessons on rejection, hate, jealousy and betrayal and we must learn to navigate these things without getting caught in bad vibes. This only comes with experience and learning to stay true to yourself. Lower your expectations. Yes, even lower.

Create For Yourself First- This way your content feels authentic and resonates with others. Focus on building a community, that will be important to your success. When you feel authentic, you will attract others along the ride. Always share engagement and show up for others too. Social Media is transactional and we should treat it as such. You are not the queen or a celebrity. But do not get caught in rage bait comments, some comments are better left hanging.

In 2026 no one wants to give their time and money to someone that does not even care about their followers or know they exist. Unfollowing celebrities is the best things you can do for yourself and to your feed.

Expecting people to pay you without a return is like going to the supermarket, paying the bill and leaving without the groceries. Only focussing on selling a product is boring and most of us are sick of it.

Last thing, You don’t have to share everything about your life. When you find what your niche is, it is okay to stay there. Being online can be tough and taxing, so protecting your energy and boundaries is important. It is also good to explore your vibe and grow during, no one stays the same. But doing things out of peer pressure can lead to burnout and losing interest. Take some breaks if you need to and cultivate the relationship with yourself, so you know when something feels like it’s for you or not.

Then add fun. And become unstoppable.

Social media is a life lesson. Be willing to spend years learning.

“I like my weights resistant enough to silence my mind. Thoughts dripping out of my body like an ocean spray. Thoughts that form letters on my screen. Balance in everything.

I am both weak and strong.

I am both repressed and driven. The complexity of human emotions fully lived. Experienced in visceral level never to be forgotten how being alive really feels.

I am living in my complex era where rejection is fuel that slides off my back into the gutter. Where the faces of distain and arrogance melts into the soil in which I walk upon in my red soled shoes.

I am both living and dying a little. Living my best life. Dying on my way toward the end. Balance in everything.”
